stimulus and small business update (april 17th)
We are committed to bringing you the best information we have. Currently, we have updated information about the following:
News reports have mentioned that some tax preparers have received their clients stimulus checks. Connolly Steele + Company does not operate with refund anticipation loans nor take our tax preparation fee out of your refund so we will not have received your stimulus direct deposit. That may be more true for the big box preparation services.
Updated information about the bank account information for the stimulus checks is that the IRS is only using the banking information if you had a direct deposit of a refund but not if you used your bank account for a direct payment of a balance due. If you owed money for 2018 or 2019, you may be receiving a paper check rather than direct deposit. It is still possible to try and update your bank account information at the IRS site https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
For our business clients, we have the following information available for you:
Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership offers Webinars & Online Events for small businesses and workers. Also available on this site, and updated regularly are financial assistance programs, grants and more. There are also links to some PA based opportunities
$1000 grants to unemployed restaurant and bar staffers
Sadly, the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (self-employed unemployment) is still not available in PA. As soon as it is available, we will shout it from the rooftops.
There may be a second round of funding for the small business SBA backed loans so we encourage you to reach out to your banker to see about getting "in line" in case you didn't receive funding in the first round.
Please reach out if you have any questions. We are here to help.
Connolly, Steele + Company has kept the needed coordination between
